"Fistfull of Erkki"
It was a gloomy and stormy night in early autumn 1984. Erkki
ja Tähti made birth. Today Erkki is already in confirmation
age being a country band with six musicians from Oulu area
in Finland.
Erkki ja Tähti plays many famous country songs in their own
very personal way. The lyrics are always translated in Finnish.

Erkki-lyrics are quite personal, they don't tell stories
fromTexas nor idealize the "American Way". On the contrary,
they are rude stories about northern beerbelly-cowboys' depressing
life. Instead of Cadillacs they're cruising with skidoomobiles,
the destination of course is the local bar. Agony is the everyday
state of mind, of course you can hear it in Erkki-songs.
You can't call these Finnish Hilbillies as Chippendales,
no way, but inside of their thick jackets (under the hip-flask)
is beating the warm heart of the backwoods-fellow, which needs
love as much as their city-slicker colleagues. Surely the
band has songs of their own, with the same guaranteed quality,
that's for sure.

It is a long way from Northern Hillbilly
areas to Las Vegas, fortunately there is the Internet. Also
Erkki ja Tähti is getting their name better known and the
hood of their bus can turn towards bigger fame, fortune and
new adventures.
ET published their first single in summer -91, "Jatkan Matkaa/Kyyneleet
Vain Lentää" (I keep on going / I keep on crying) In the spring
-94 ET published a CD-record "Erkki ja Tähti" The part of
material includes country classics in finnish, rest of the
songs were made by Antti Heinonen, the singer&songwriter of
Erkki ja Tähti. The latest CD named "Krokotiilibuutsit?" (Crocodile
Shoes) includes 4 songs and was published 11.8.2000 .
